How to Start Nightcrawler Farm

What are Nightcrawlers?

Nightcrawler is a special type of earthworm, and they are regarded as the strongest and most beneficial earthworms that can increase the productivity of your garden. If you can spot the movement of some nightcrawlers in your garden, rest assured that the soil of your garden is rich in nutrients. They constantly keep digging holes in the soil to ensure the presence of air and moisture and thus they keep the soil oxygen rich. The vermicompost made from their casts is heavily loaded with nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and other essential nutrients. The fertilizer that the nightcrawlers produce is extremely beneficial, and even there are some commercial farmers who sell these worms for a huge profit and their produced compost fertilizers as well.

Once in a week, toss the entire bedding to supply oxygen and remove some of the fertile soil from your bin and replace with new one. Thus, you can resupply oxygen in your container and can make your soil more productive and fertile.

  1. Please stick to your native worms. Exotic worms brought in as bait or g"helpers" causing problems in a lot of places.
