Processes

1. Get a medium sized plastic bin where you want to start worm farming. You can choose it based on your demand and expectations. If you want to get massive number of worms, then get a larger one. If you want to start worm farming just for fun, then I would recommend you to get a medium sized bin. However, choosing small bin won't be a wise choice because worms like to have a sufficient space for their growth and comforts. 2. You have your bin ready, and now time to drill a hole to remove excess water. Earthworms can't thrive in anaerobic condition. They grow best at warm, moisturized and aerobic environment. So, to start worm farming, make sure you have drilled the bottom site of the plastic bin to remove the excess water from it. To make if more effective, you can drill multiple places at the bottom to ensure an improved drainage condition. To make it more aerobic, you can even make holes on the sides of the plastic bin. 3. Now, leave some newspapers, sawdust, soils, dried leaves, tea wastes, fruits and kitchen wastes into your bin. Then water it will to make it moist. Now add some cowdung if you can. It will accelerate their activity and will attract them more. But don't forget to apply tea wastes because it works great. Keep in mind, at this stage, avoid the foods that I mentioned earlier. 4. Well, you have it then. Now add soils in the bin to make it like a natural environment. Get some worms and release into it. If you are worried about their escapes, then I would tell you not to worry. Because if you supply them a healthy and appropriate environment, then they won't escape. But, even if you want to make sure about the escapes, you can cover the holes with a flat newspaper. Remember to use better earthworms in this case. 5. Now your earthworms are into their work. Once they are adapted to their new home, they will start laying eggs and help to grow more earthworms. Thus, they will make you succeed to start worm farming. Once you apply the worms in the bin, regularly add some variety of foods for them. However, if you can stand with the bad smells, you can bury the foods or wastes into the bin.

6. Once, the worms start to live happily inside the bin, they will be active and will beget you the magical vermicompost which works fascinatingly to improve the soil fertility status.
