Before knowing the process to make home made organic fertilizer, one must know the advantages of using it.

• Organic fertilizer improves the structure of soil.
• It increases the infiltration rate, water holding capacity, percolation rate of soil and reduces erosion and over flow.
• It maintains soil temperature.
• Organic fertilizer is rich in organic matter, which helps microbes thrive.
• It can reduce the need for pesticides and the overall nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium requirements. Because of the reductions, organic fertilizer can be cost neutral and sometimes a cost savings.

• It reduces the over use of inorganic and chemical fertilizers which are responsible for environmental pollution.

How can you make Natural Homemade Organic Fertilizers?

• Banana Peels: Don't throw away the banana peels, you can use it in your gardens or pots to supply potassium to plants. Roses love potassium. You can get bigger blooms.

• Coffee Grounds: Acid loving plants like roses, tomatoes get much benefits from the nitrogen in coffee grounds.

• Eggshells: Eggshells are rich in calcium and sulfur. Crush them and add them in your garden. You will see the result in a few weeks.

Banana + Coffee Grounds + Eggshells

Mix them thoroughly in a blender or mixer, you can add the mixture in your garden. This combination of all three works great, especially for flowers.

• Seaweeds:  Seaweed contains trace elements and actually serves as a food source
  for soil microbes. 

• Human urine: Urine is considered sterile if the body it’s coming from is healthy and free of viruses and infection. High in nitrogen, urea contains more phosphorous and potassium than many of the fertilizers we buy at the store. But it should be used in 1:10 ratio.
• Manure: With a little effort, you’ll find folks that are giving away composted chicken, horse or cow manure for free.
